It is a family holiday. throng usually celebrate it with their family and the family’s relatives. The preparation is the first protrude of the tradition. Five years before the December 31, there argon a kitty of spate in the stores. They buy opposite kinds of food for their sunny table. In Ukrainian tradition of celebrating New Year’s Eve, we have to have a mixed bag of different foods on the table. The preparation also includes the decoration of the folk. We go about decorating a house in Ukraine on December 25. A Christmas tree is named “ vitellusa” in Ukraine. Like in America, yolka bum be either corporeal or artificial. I handle a real cardinal, because the scent of pine makes the holiday even more joyful. Decorating a yolka is one of my favorite components of the preparation. I n Ukraine, you can adorn a yolka not only with colorful ornaments and garlands uniform American people do. Some people like to decorate their yolkas with different types of candies. The next part of the tradition is cooking. In Ukraine, we send away all sunup and afternoon to cook the dishes for New Year’s Eve celebration. We start the food preparation with the tralatitious salads, like “shuba”, “olivye” ,and lump and cheese salad. “Shuba” and & ldquo;olivye” are salads with a variet! y of boiled vegetables, like potato, and carrots. “Shuba”has multiple layers, containing potato and carrots. Also it has layers of minced onion plant and smoke-dried fish. The very top layer on “shuba” is a range boiled beet decorated with minced egg yolk and slightly parsley.
